you can FREEZE MILK??!! Maybe I’m the last one on earth to figure this out, but I’m beyond thrilled!! I can now buy Costco milk in bulk, freeze it and then whip it out when we need it! If your family is anything like mine, we go in milk spurts. One week it goes bad and the next we have cereal for 2 meals a day! If for some reason you were in the dark about this like I was, here’s the deal:
1. Check your freezer for space
2. Buy lots of milk to fill that space in plastic or glass containers (we use skim)
3. Open and have a bowl of cereal with the milk. (so you leave room for it to expand when freezing 😉 )
4. Put the lid back on tight and place in open space in freezer
5. Take out at least 2 days before your current jug is running low cause you definitely want to thaw it in the fridge.
6. Shake it up when ready to use.
7. VOILA!!
I’ve never thought about this either! I’m so glad you blogged about it. We are the same at our house. Either we run out or it goes bad. Now I have one more reason to buy a stand alone freezer. Thanks for finding these things out so that I can just ask you. What a great big sister!
I have never thought to do that either! Woo hoo. You know how I adore milk. 🙂
That is a great idea. I hate running to the store just for milk…but with a little one we can’t be without:) You always have the best tips. Thanks
LOL Reese taught me this a while back but… FOR SURE make sure you completely unthaw it and shake good because one time… we didn’t quite wait and the frozen part was just the water part so it was pretty thick and nasty. If you like the cream you might think that is good but not me.
